Pigs

Mini Pigs: The Perfect Addition to Your Small Farm

If you already have a small farm or homestead, why not add a pig to the mix? They fit right in with other farm animals such as chickens, goats and cows. The cuteness factor of having a pig waddling around adds a nice touch to your farm, and we know you'll be surprised by how easy it is to raise one of these lovable creatures!

We raise Juliana, Kunekune and micro potbelly pigs here at Broadway Family Farms. These pig breeds are perfect for small farms and make the best pets for families. They are highly social animals and are easy to train when taken the time. These breeds are considered "mini pigs", but don't be surprised when you see how big these pigs get when fully grown!

The Pigs of Broadway Farms: Kunekune, Juliana, Micropotbelly

Kunekune

Micro-Potbelly

Kunekune

  • Kunekune pigs are the smallest breed of pigs
  • Range in size 130-220 lbs
  • Graze on grass in the summer and eat hay in the winter
  • Love to eat fruits & vegetables
  • Come in a variety of colors: solid and a combination of black, brown, blonde & ginger

Juliana

Micro-Potbelly

Kunekune

  • Juliana pigs are also known as "Miniature Painted Pig"
  • Have great personalities
  • Can be raised indoors or outdoors
  • Enjoy human interactions and get along with other animals well
  • Range in size 40-65 lbs
  • Have spots or markings that appear painted on their coat
  • Are bred specifically as a companion pet

Micro-Potbelly

Micro-Potbelly

Micro-Potbelly

  • Micropotbelly pigs can range in size 40-200 lbs
  • Are highly intelligent, social, and inquisitive
  • Come in 4 main colors: Solid black, solid pink, solid white and spotted
  • Make excellent pets
  • Love belly rubs!

Another thing to know...

  • Pigs can't sweat. Because pigs lack sweat glands, they must roll in mud and water to keep cool and avoid sunburn.
  • Pigs do not pose many health issues, except for the tendency to become overweight if their diet is not controlled carefully.
  • Pigs don't require fancy housing - just a warm, covered space to sleep.
  • Pigs do best in pairs - consider getting at least two pigs, so they will not be lonely.
