In addition to raising mini cows and goats, we also raise chickens, rabbits, quail, ducks, and the sweetest donkey named Polly.
It's no surprise people are drawn to country living. Even those who live in the "city", when they come visit our farm, the most common statement we hear is "It's so nice out here!" And our definition of "nice" that they are talking about is peaceful, quiet, relaxing to name a few. The idea of farm living, homesteading, and raising farm animals as pets has become more and more popular the past few years. And with good reason since rural, country living is fun and has great benefits for the whole family!
Did you know that studies show that raising farm animals keeps you happier and healthier? Just a few benefits of keeping farm animals are lower stress levels, better immunity health, and improved physical health. And who wouldn't want a cute donkey like Polly on their homestead?
Polly is a mini jenny (female donkey) that joined our farm in 2022. She loves being around the mini cows and goats!
We have 11 chickens - 4 of which were hatched right here on the farm. For anyone starting a hobby farm, chickens would be the perfect start. They are hardy and low maintenance. We love getting fresh eggs daily.
We have 5 ducks on our farm. Raising ducks is similar to chickens, however, there are certain things ducks need more. Ducks are fun to watch and listen to. They also lay eggs and absolutely LOVE water!
We have 5 rabbits on the farm we are raising for meat. They are sweet, cuddly and love it when we give them extra treats such as lettuce, fruit and hay.
Raising quail is similar to chickens, but with a few differences. Quail are much smaller, so their eggs are small (but high in nutrients) and they require less space. Quail are also great for meat. We hatched 12 eggs right here on the farm!
Mac is our two year old Mullins Feist. His breed is a top-notch squirrel hunting breed. Mac loves running and hunting, so we have to keep him close to the house. He loves attention and taking naps on the couch.
